Duration: The program is designed to accommodate students with various time availability. First, the traditional format entails a continuous study of courses over a six-month period. The 6-month program, consisting of two semesters, with 4 months of coursework and 2 months of research project respectively. Each semester has ten weeks of instruction with a two-week recess in between. Second, students may choose to collect 3 credits per course over a two-year period and write a final report (mentioned above) by the time they wish to claim the diploma certificate.
Tuition Fees: 200,000 MMK
Scholarship Opportunities: There will be several full scholarships and partial scholarships awarded by the university if the minimum number of students are admitted. Scholarships will be awarded based on the financial needs and academic background of the candidates. And scholarship awardees need to maintain at least a 3.0 GPA per semester.
Program Objectives:
The program objectives of this diploma program are as follows:
To unearth social and cultural practice, history and linguistics of Kachin ethnic groups through the lens of local experts and local youth
To contribute the collective movement on desegregation of ethnic minority people via multilingualism
To obtain opinion pieces, workshops and reflective writings from the participants after the completion of the program
To raise awareness of the identity and history of Kachin minority groups while promoting representation, diversity and inclusion through cultural exchange programs.
Admission Requirements:
Applicants shall:
Be highschool graduates or its equivalent,
Show interest in ethnic-related matters,
have an intermediate level of English/Kachin.
