About SUM
Spring University Myanmar (SUM) is a youth-led, impact-driven education institution founded in May 2021 amidst Myanmar’s ongoing political and humanitarian crisis. Born from the urgent need for credible and accessible education, SUM aims to provide alternative learning resources for Myanmar youth, especially those from conflict areas and vulnerable communities, while supporting at-risk scholars and exploring new pathways to deliver education in these challenging times.
With 11 interdisciplinary schools, 136 faculty members, and over 25,000 enrollments to date, SUM blends academic excellence, civic responsibility, and technological adaptability. Our mission is to provide alternative education resources for Myanmar youth and to advocate systemic strengthening for the Myanmar education sector among local and international stakeholders, while the vision is to empower young people to lead, collaborate, and thrive in a free and democratic society.
SUM envisions itself as an open university platform, offering resources across various disciplines. Our commitment to educational inclusivity is evident through initiatives like eduLamp, which brings offline education to underserved communities, and our provision of thousands of scholarship seats to ensure that financial constraints do not hinder a student's academic journey.​

Our impact is amplified through 13 international partnerships, including collaborations with universities and academic institutions from Thailand, South Korea, New Zealand, Switzerland, Australia, Italy, and the United States. These alliances have enabled us to offer joint accredited and non-accredited courses, expanding our students' global academic credibility and exposure.​
