About this Course
How do people interact with feelings? How do feelings spread from one person to another? How do they spread from one object to the next? Are feelings only the subject of psychology? How can we understand feelings as a social phenomenon? This course will explore anthropological and social approaches to feelings and offer feminist perspectives on feelings as both an outcome and a moving vehicle for social life, struggle, and change. Some of the topics that we will explore include, but are not limited to: gendered emotional labor, precarity and futility of feelings, feelings in neoliberal epoch, and more.
